There are certain situations prevailing in some relationships that gives the impression that the circumstances are not redeemable but this is often far from the truth because in actual fact those grey areas can be resolved. It is common knowledge that most couple contend with issues daily and it is often the ability to manage them that stands them out from some others who can t stand the rigors of working hard to maintain what they believe in. Couples with history of long standing relationships haven t got any magic formula or amalgam which they use rather it has always been all about patience, perseverance and working at managing their relationship.
Some people think that others are more skilled or adept at managing relationships but with others who are not so skilled a major step at moving ahead is the willingness to initiate and accept steps which will bring about the desired change in the relationship. A party might be interested in making corrective changes but if the other party is having doubts as to this step fixing the relationship will naturally be a much knotty issue than expected. However, there are many proven strategies which can be learnt that will help elicit the interest of your lover and help move the relationship forward through working together.
While working at moving the relationship to the next level coming from a stormy phase you need to introduce new things which are meant to change your situation for the better arising from both party s evaluation of what the grey areas are which need to be eliminated. If for instance the relationship had issues in the past resulting from argument and blame trading it is expected that following from this efforts should be concentrated at communication in the relationship which will be geared towards understanding and patience in order to avoid the pitfalls from the past.
Further to consolidating your ground in the relationship, it is expected that as a sign of your reformation most conversations or topics relating to your plans for the future with your spouse should form the thrust of your discussions with her so that she knows that you are ready to carry her along and also incorporate her in your agenda. This gives her renewed faith in your ability to take care of her and it will also influence her mentality in support of your goals and aspirations such that in future when the chips are down she will always stand by you.
In getting the best of out of your relationship which had initially suffered a set back for whatever reason it is essential to ensure that grey areas which caused the initial setback are consciously taken note of and dealt with so that they do not reoccur again. This process involves a continuous effort at managing changes which are negative to the relationship. Change in itself is not easy to come by but through continuous and conscious effort at a paradigm shift the desired results will always be achieved.

Family of Chile’s former leader Augusto Pinochet arrested on embezzlement charges
Friday, October 5, 2007
The widow and five children of former Chilean dictator Augusto Pinochet have been arrested in Chile on embezzlement charges. They are accused of illegally transferring USD27 million to foreign bank accounts during Pinochet’s rule from 1973 to 1990. Seventeen of Pinochet’s former associates, including his former personal secretary and three retired army generals, were also arrested.
Pinochet had been charged with tax evasion, fraud, and embezzlement following a 2004 U.S. Senate investigation. In December 2006, he died without having been brought to trial. However, Chilean Judge Carlos Cerda said there were “solid indications” that Pinochet’s family and associates had also “participated in the misuse of fiscal funds”.
Jose Miguel Vivanco of Human Rights Watch called the decision “an extremely important development for Chile’s democracy and the rule of law. Going after the relatives of the powerful and the fortunes they amassed used to be considered off limits,” he said.
Pinochet family lawyer Pablo Rodriguez said he was “astonished by this illegal and abusive decision by the judge”, and that he was “sure that it will be reversed by the Court of Appeals.”
Imperfect immune systems help avoid autoimmune disease
Thursday, September 15, 2005
The body’s immune system is less effective at quashing disease than it could be – but if it were better the immune system might do more harm than good, according to new research by Michael Deem and colleagues of Rice University in Houston.
The immune system has apparently evolved to be mildly inefficient so that it achieves a balance between quick response to disease and decreased probability of autoimmune disease, a condition in which the immune system attacks healthy tissue.
The authors drew their conclusions from a model of the dynamics of antibody evolution. Their simulations show that while there are mechanisms that would allow the immune system to develop antibodies that respond faster and more strongly against invading pathogens, those mechanisms would also create antibodies that are likely to attack the body’s own healthy cells. The model also bolsters controversial suggestions that chronic infections could lead the immune system awry, ultimately resulting in rheumatoid arthritis or other autoimmune ailments.
The study will be detailed in a forthcoming issue of the journal Physical Review Letters.

Judge orders residents and city to come to agreement on partially collapsed building in Buffalo, New York
Thursday, June 19, 2008
Buffalo, New York —Judge Justice Christopher Burns of the New York State Supreme Court has ordered a halt to an emergency demolition on a 19th century stable and livery on 428-430 Jersey Street in Buffalo, New York that partially collapsed on Wednesday June 11, initially causing at least 15 homes to be evacuated. At least two homes remain evacuated.
Burns orders that both the city and the group Save The Livery (www.savethelivery.com) have to come to an agreement on what to do with the building, and try to work out ways of saving at least some portions if it including the facade, side walls and a lift tower. Save The Livery is comprised of concerned area residents who have grown to love the building’s historic and unique character. On June 14, they won a temporary restraining order to stop demolition. The court ruled that the city was only allowed to remove material in immediate danger to residents and pedestrians, but stated that the demolition could only be performed with “hand tools.” The court also ordered that any rubble which had fallen into neighboring yards when the building collapsed, to be removed.
“It is in the interest of the city to have a safe environment–but also important to maintain a sense of historical preservation,” stated Burns in his ruling. Burns has given the sides until tomorrow (Friday June 20) to come to an agreement and has ordered both parties to return to court at 9:30 a.m. (eastern time) “sharp.” Activists of Save The Livery urge supporters of the stable to “fill the courtroom” to show “continued and ongoing support.” The hearing is scheduled to take place at 25 Delaware Avenue in the Supreme Court building, 3rd Floor, trial part 19.
Currently the building is owned by Bob Freudenheim who has several building violations against him because of the buildings poor condition. He has received at least five violations in three months and residents who live near the building state that Freudenheim should be “100% responsible” for his actions. Many are afraid that if the building is demolished, Freudenheim’s charges of neglect will be abolished.
On June 17, developer and CEO of Savarino Companies, Sam Savarino was at the site of the stable, discussing the building with residents and preservationists. In 2006, Savarino proposed and planned The Elmwood Village Hotel, a ‘botique’ hotel on the Southeast corner of Elmwood and Forest Avenues. The project was later withdrawn after residents filed a lawsuit against Savarino and the city. Wikinews extensively covered the story, and contacted Savarino for his professional opinion on the building.
“[I would] love to see it preserved. I was there to see if there was anything we could do to help, to see if anything can be salvaged. I just want to see the right thing happen, and so does the city,” stated Savarino to Wikinews who added that he was allowed inside the building for a brief period.
“The side walls are beyond repair. The roof has rotted and it could come down at any time,” added Savarino who also said that the building “below the second floor appears to be stable.” He also states that the back wall of the building, which borders several homes, appears to be intact.
“Eliminating the back wall could be a problem for the neighbors. It is not unreasonable to leave at least 12 feet” of the back wall standing, added Savarino.
Savarino did not say if he was interested in buying the property, but did state, “I am sure there are a couple of people interested” in buying the property. On Thursday, Buffalo News reported that a “businessman” might be interested in purchasing the property, though Wikinews is not able to independently confirm the report. Savarino says that with the property still slated for emergency demolition, a potential buyer could face tax fees of nearly US$300,000.
Freudenheim gave the city permission to demolish the building on Thursday June 12 during an emergency Preservation Board meeting, because he would not be “rehabilitating the building anytime soon.” Freudenheim, along with his wife Nina, were part-owners of the Hotel Lenox at 140 North Street in Buffalo and were advocates to stop the Elmwood Village Hotel. They also financially supported a lawsuit in an attempt to stop the hotel from being built. Though it is not known exactly how long Freudenheim has owned the stable, Wikinews has learned that he was the owner while fighting to stop the hotel from being built. Residents say that he has been the owner for at least 22 years.
The building was first owned by a company called White Bros. and was used as a stable for a farm which once covered the land around the building for several blocks. The Buffalo Fire Department believes the building was built around 1814, while the city property database states it was built in 1870. Servants and workers of the farm were housed inside resident quarters situated at the rear of the building on what is now Summer Street, but are now cottages where area residents currently reside. Some date as far back as 1829.
At about 1950, the stable was converted into an automobile body shop and gasoline station.A property record search showed that in 1950 at least four fuel storage tanks were installed on the property. Two are listed as 550 square feet while the other two are 2,000 square feet. All of the tanks are designated as a TK4, which New York State says is used for “below ground horizontal bulk fuel storage.” The cost of installing a tank of that nature according to the state, at that time, included the tank itself, “excavation and backfill,” but did not include “the piping, ballast, or hold-down slab orring.” It is not known if the tanks are still on the property, but residents are concerned the city was not taking the precautions to find out.

The Chicago White Sox scored a narrow 5–4 victory Monday against the Detroit Tigers after White Sox player A.J. Pierzynski scored a go-ahead run in extra innings. The go-ahead run gave the White Sox two extra runs.
“We’re just finding ways to win games. We’re battling. We’re not giving at-bats away,” Pierzynski, catacher for the White Sox, said after the game.
Though the White Sox led 3–2 in the fourth inning, Mark Kotsay got out at home plate when attempting to get the White Sox a fourth run. Later, Tiger Don Kelly scored a home run, pushing the Tigers up to a lead of 4–2. The homer had both Kelly and Miguel Cabrera scoring a run each. The White Sox also hit a run in the eighth inning.
Also notable was that rookie relief pitcher Chris Sale won his first game after pitching in the tenth inning. Sale, who is on the Sox, earned praise from Chicago manager Ozzie Guillen, who said “very, very pleasant surprise. Very, very nice.”
The White Sox are currently 3 1/2 games behind the Minnesota Twins in the American League Central Division in the MLB. The Sox currently has a record of 77 wins and 60 losses, and have won four games in a row. The Detroit Tigers are third in the Central Division with a record of 68–70, and are 13 games behind Minnesota.
The game was played in Comerica Park in Detroit. 32,924 people attended the game.
Bush addresses nation on economic crisis; Congress debates bailout
Thursday, September 25, 2008
United States President George W. Bush addressed the nation on the economic financial crisis from inside the White House saying the economic situation is “serious” and is “in danger” of becoming “a long and painful recession.”
“We are in the midst of a serious financial crisis and the federal government is responding with decisive action,” Bush said in his televised speech.
Bush called for the United States Congress to pass a US$700 billion bill intended to keep struggling companies afloat. He asked the two presidential candidates along with leaders from both parties of Congress to join him for a conference on Thursday.
Last Friday, Treasury Secretary Henry Paulson called for a bailout plan that would allow for the United States government to purchase devalued mortgage backed securities, resulting from the subprime mortgage crisis, from troubled financial institutions. Paulson has said that the plan could cost up to $700 billion. Congressional leaders have said that some form of the plan will pass; however, there is considerable debate over several key issues.
White House spokeswoman Dana Perino said that Bush “believes it is important for the American people to fully understand the depth of the crisis in our financial markets, how that crisis affects them, and the urgent need to agree on a solution.” Bush has been criticized for waiting too long to speak in prime time.
John McCain suspended his campaign to return to Washington and work on the bailout bill. Barack Obama has called for another form of the bill to pass and said that Congress should not package the bailout bill with any other bills — such as an economic stimulus plan.
Meanwhile, Congress has held a second round of hearings on the proposed bailout bill. Paulson and Chairman of the Federal Reserve Ben Bernanke testified in front of the House Financial Services Committee. They felt it was a serious problem in need of an immediate solution.

Rep. Barney Frank, Chairman of House Financial Services Committee, says it is “clear” that the financial bailout bill will pass.
Director of the Congressional Budget Office Peter R. Orsza said while testifying before Congress that “ironically, the intervention could even trigger additional failures of large institutions, because some institutions may be carrying troubled assets on their books at inflated values.”
The bailout plan has been called a “blank check” by many, with members of both parties divided on the issue.

Scales have been used since the development of commerce at least 5,000 years ago. Business must be able to weigh goods in order to function. Laboratories require scales that can give very precise measurements. Scientists, buyers and sellers must all be able to trust that the scale is accurate. False readings in commerce mean that someone is paying too much. Ultimately, higher prices end up with the consumer. Everyone has a vested interest in the use of only trustworthy scales.
Truck scales immediately come to mind when most people think of large scales. A fully loaded truck can weigh up to 80,000 pounds. Busy truck scales must be reliable and able to handle a lot of traffic in the worst weather conditions. Some businesses require portable scales or combination scales that can even weigh railcars. Forklift scales save companies money because properly equipped forklifts can pick up and weigh an item at the same time. Many businesses operate on very slim profit margins. Saving time translates to saving money and increasing productivity. Conveyor scales also save businesses time and money by consolidating steps. These scales can be used to increase efficiency in many ways.
Businesses routinely rely on maintenance agreements on their scales to ensure that the scales are always functioning properly. A professional scale technician will perform a number of tests, make any necessary adjustments or repairs, and provide a complete report. Scales should be routinely serviced on a pre-determined schedule. Many industries take advantage of renting scales. Business cycles often mean that a scale is needed during the busy period, but not at other times, making it more cost-efficient to rent scales as needed.
B & M Scale Inc. have been supplying effective weighing solutions to industry since 1990. They are available 24 hours a day, because their customers often operate 24 hours a day.
