Quitting Employment For Business

Quitting stable employment for business is a brave move, but one that all entrepreneurs will have to take at some stage if they are ever to achieve their business ambitions. In the spirit of entrepreneurialism, giving up your job to start your own business is a risk, but provided you have a business idea and the ability to bring that to fruition, it should be a calculated one, with the potential to deliver serious rewards. In entrepreneurialism and business, these risks must be taken from time to time if youve ever to achieve any degree of success, and when it comes to quitting your full time job, thats the first risk of many more to come. Provided you quit when youre ready to take off with your business, the process of handing in your notice shouldnt be too risky.Entrepreneurialism is all about judging and taking the right risks to reap the associated rewards. Quitting your full time job to start up in business is one of those risks so fundamental to entrepreneurialism, and your ability to start and succeed in business is utterly dependent upon you taking this step. No one ever got rich working for someone else, and no one ever run a successful business without foregoing traditional employment. However, entrepreneurialism aside, taking that decision to finally reject conventional employment in favour of running your own business is a difficult thing to do on a personal level, and one that must be justified as a significant decision to be made. Giving up your job to start a business can be difficult on a number of levels, despite the fact that it is fundamental to entrepreneurialism. Firstly it can be difficult personally, severing ties with your office colleagues and friends for good. This can be made even more difficult where there is a sense of loyalty and dependency on your input, which can cause feelings of guilt and unease. In addition to that, giving up your job means giving up an income, which is obviously an extremely risky thing to do with bills to pay and mouths to feed. Overcoming these obstacles is difficult, and will require a great deal of thought and dedication. However the rewards of running your own business and making your own success will ultimately far outweigh these negative elements of giving up employment.Giving up a full time position is never a decision to be taken lightly, and you must have some degree of confidence in your business to take this step. Dont quit your job before you have the groundwork for your business in place, including enough money in savings to tide you over until your business venture starts generating profits. Only when you are confident your full time efforts can generate enough of a return to keep your head above the water should you commit to leaving your current employment. Only then can you stand a decent chance of success running your new business, without the financial constraints many who leave their jobs too early must overcome.

US stocks slump as crude oil surges, gold hits 25 yr high

Friday, January 20, 2006

US stocks suffered their biggest declines in more than two years on concerns about oil supplies from Iran and Nigeria. Crude oil prices jumped to more than $68 a barrel, levels not seen since September last year. Gold hit a 25 year peak and last traded at $553.50 an ounce.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average (DJIA) slumped 213+ points today amid fears of Iran and terrorism. The index has now given up all its gains since the beginning of the year. Among its 30 components, only McDonalds ended the day in positive territory. Disappointing earnings dragged down shares of General Electric Co. and Citigroup Inc.

Since the start of the Q4 earnings season, many analysts have been reducing their earnings expectations. S&P 500 companies are now expected to report a profit growth of 12.7 percent, compared with earlier expectations of 15.5 percent. This analysis was done by Bloomberg using data from Thomson. Earnings growth is expected to slow down to 9.9 percent in the first quarter of this year.

Shares of GE gave up $1.35 to end at $33.33 after the firm reported its smallest earnings gain since 2004. GE is the world’s second largest firm by market value. Q4 earnings rose to 55 cents a share from 54 cents while revenue rose 2.6 percent to $40.7 billion, below analysts’ estimates.

The DJIA was dragged down by Citigroup, largest bank in US. Its stock fell $1.98 to $45.96. The company reported fourth-quarter earnings of $4.97 billion, or 98 cents a share. The earnings were below consensus estimates of $1.

Want A Free Medium? Think Again! The No.1 Reason I Recommend You Pay For A Reading Instead

Are you interested in a free clairvoyant reading? Lots of people are….and it amazes me how many people who want to see a psychic actually want to pay NOTHING for the reading at all..:-) I’ve had LOTS of psychic experiences both good and bad alike…and I want to share with you the #1 reason I ALWAYS pay for clairvoyant readings today, rather than seeking freebies instead. Curious to know more? Continue reading as we take a closer look below.

The #1 reason I ONLY recommend paying for psychic readings?

First….they AREN’T expensive. If you know where to look, you can get a GREAT, life changing reading for 20 dollars or less. And the difference between PAYING for a reading, and the freebies that are widely available is literally NIGHT…and day. (in terms of the accuracy of the information)

You wouldn’t go see a FREE doctor and expect he or she to be the best around, would you? What about a lawyer? Or a mechanic? Or personal trainer? The simple truth is, excellence is NEVER free when it comes to the “best of the best”, and there is nothing different in the psychic industry as well. As a matter of fact, it always amazes me, as I mentioned above, how many people think that a genuine psychic should “give away” their gifts….simply because they are of a more divine or spiritual type of skill.

My best recommendation?

Avoid FREE clairvoyants EVEN if you don’t have any money to spend on a real one..:-) Why? Because in my pretty extensive experience, they are NEVER good…and rarely free. (they often try to up sell you expensive services soon after the reading begins) Instead, save a few dollars, and when you’ve got 10, or 20 or 25 dollars to spend, you can literally get a GREAT reading with a real clairvoyant you WON’T forget. (or immediately regret!)

Yesterday, the Milwaukee County district attorney charged Cory J. Feerick, a 33-year-old from Brookfield, Wisconsin, with five misdemeanor counts of stealing US$35,000 worth of flush valves from fast food restaurants and university toilets and urinals. If convicted, Feerick could spend to 9 to 45 months in jail, and pay between US$10,000 and US$50,000 in fines.

Initially arrested in late January following a local news television story on the thefts, he stands accused of stealing parts worth between US$300 and US$600 each from locations that included Milwaukee Area Technical College, Waukesha County Technical College, ITT Technical Institute, University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, Marquette University, the Pick ‘n Save on Capitol Drive in Brookfield, and the Arby’s also located on Capitol Drive in Brookfield.

2006 U.S. Congressional Elections

Wednesday, November 8, 2006

As of 10:00 p.m EST November 8, 2006, the Democratic Party is projected to have gained control of both the United States House of Representatives and the United States Senate in the 2006 United States general elections. MSNBC projects that the Democrats now control 234 seats in the House of Representatives, 16 more seats than the 218 needed to control the House of Representatives as all 435 seats were up for election. In the Senate, where the balance of power is closer, one-third of all seats were up for grab. As of 10:00 p.m. EST, AP and Reuters were projecting that the Democrats had picked up all six seats they needed to retake the Senate, including the seats of incumbents Rick Santorum (Penn.), Lincoln Chafee (R.I.), Jim Talent (Missouri), Mike DeWine (Ohio), John Tester (Montana), and Jim Webb (VA). The Tester victory by less than 3,000 votes was projected at approximately 2 p.m. EST after the State of Montana announced the results of overnight recounts. Democrat Jim Webb has prevailed in that race by slightly more than 7,000 votes, though his opponent has not conceded and a recount may still occur.

Kiribati acquires international funding for solar power

Tuesday, March 26, 2013

Last Tuesday, AusAID Australia and the World Bank’s Global Environment Fund (GEF) reached an agreement to give the government of Kiribati US$5 million (AU$4,779,000, NZ$5,985,000, €3,885,000) to install solar panels around the country capital, located on the Tarawa atoll. According to Business Desk of the Brunei Times, AusAID promised AU$3.2 million in funding, while GEF promised US$1 million. The country was the first in the Pacific to make a deal with the World Bank.

The funding was part of a US$530 million (NZ$635 million) package announced at yesterday’s Pacific Energy Summit in Auckland involving New Zealand and the European Union, Australia, the Asian Development Bank, the European Investment Bank, the Japan International Cooperation Agency, the World Bank Group, and the United Arab Emirates. Also at the summit yesterday, New Zealand’s Foreign Affairs Minister Murray McCully had announced a national commitment of USD$54,262,000 (AU$51,861,000 NZ$65 million, €42,178,000) to Pacific region energy solutions, of which US$8,348,000 (AU$8 million, NZ$10 million, €6,483,000) would be specifically earmarked for renewable energy and improved energy efficiency in the Cook Islands, Kiribati, Papua New Guinea, Samoa, Tonga, and Tuvalu.

Kiribati is heavily dependent on diesel fuel for most of the energy available on the national power grid, which supplies power to half Kiribati’s population of 110,000. In addition, a third of the country’s population lacks access to electricity. Once installation of the solar panels is complete, they are estimated to reduce diesel consumption by 230,000 liters (60,760 gallons) a year and give access to the electricity to some parts of the population that currently have no electricity. The European Union already has committed €100 million to sustainable energy in the region, with €10 million of that coming as a result of an announcement made last week.

In a press release about the news, Kiribati President Anote Tong was quoted as saying, “Kiribati faces big challenges it is remote, it is at risk from the effects of climate change, and it is vulnerable to economic shocks. […] Shifting Kiribati’s focus to reliable solar energy will provide a more secure, more sustainable power source for the country’s people.” Radio New Zealand International quoted Tong as saying, “It’s the first time we are doing this. We’re excited at the prospect of even substituting fossil fuel to a small extent at this stage. What the system being envisaged will only produce around 500 kilowatts, but this is the beginning of what I hope will be a pattern, the trend in the future.”

The European Union’s Fiji-based head of operations for the Pacific region, Renato Mele, supported alternative energy solutions like solar power for the region, but said that solar power had limitations because climate and environmental conditions sometimes meant batteries required to power the panels had a life of only 12 months, compared to other climates where batteries normally last five years. This created the potential to drive up standard operating costs. Mele has also noted these additional costs though are still lower than the cost of diesel power.

One News Pacific Correspondent Barbara Dreaver noted, “Governments will be able to put the money they (currently) spend on diesel into things like education and health.”

Why Repairing A Sprinkler System Repair In Spokane Wa Matters

byAlma Abell

As with just about anything around the house, it is possible for a sprinkler system to sustain some type of damage. When this happens, it is important to make sure the Sprinkler System Repair in Spokane WA takes place in a timely manner. Here are some of the reasons why this is the case. Increased Wear and TearWhen one part of the Sprinkler System Repair in Spokane WA is not working properly, it can interfere with the function of other parts. Over time, this leads to more stress and pressure on those other components. What started out as a simple repair can blossom into a major problem that requires a lot of time and money to resolve. A better approach is to take care of the minor repair quickly, and avoid having to deal with more issues later on.

Wasting Resources Depending on the nature of the damage to the system, the homeowner may also be wasting resources. For example, a damaged sprinkler head or two may end up using more water during operation, and fail to evenly distribute the water across the expanse of the lawn. This means some areas get saturated while others are left dry. Along with damaging the lawn, this also leads to using more water. That in turn means a higher water bill with no benefits to show for that extra expense. In like manner, damages pipes or hoses that connect the sprinklers will mean a lot of water is wasted during operation. With an in ground system, that excess water seeps into the ground and could lead to too much moisture for the grass. As spots begin to die, there will be the need to replace the dead grass with new sod. A better approach is to have the pipes repaired or replaced and keep the lawn looking great.

For homeowners who want To Know More about the proper care and maintenance of a sprinkler system, talk with a home and garden expert. That expert can provide tips on how to determine if there is something wrong with the system, and how to resolve those issues quickly. Read more about Spokane Pro Care!

Swiss mountaineer Erhard Loretan dies in climbing accident

Saturday, April 30, 2011

Acclaimed Swiss mountaineer Erhard Loretan died Thursday on his 52nd birthday when he fell in a climbing accident.

According to Swiss police, Loretan was climbing with a client to the summit of Gruenhor, a 4,043 meter peak in the Bernese Alps, when both fell for unknown reasons from a height of around 3,800 metres. He was killed immediately while his client was hospitalized in serious condition.

Loretan, originally from Fribourg, was eleven years old when he began climbing. In 1982, he climbed his first 8,000-meter peak, Nanga Parbat in Pakistan. He was the third person to summit all fourteen of the world’s 8,000-meter peaks, which he accomplished by the age of 36. This confirmed his reputation as one of the world’s top mountain climbers. In 1986 he ascended Mt. Everest in 40 hours without using supplementary oxygen, a feat that astonished other mountain climbers.

Saying that he was essentially a solitary person, he told a Trento film festival in a video posted on its web site last year, “First of all I’d like to thank the mountains, for almost 40 years they have allowed me to climb, and with this passion I’ve lived an extraordinary life up to now, that’s why I’d like to thank them.”

He added, “I now want to share this passion more with others, and it’s because of this that being a mountain guide is a good profession because you can help someone who dreams about climbing mountains. This is something very beautiful.”

In 2001 his personal life was marred by a manslaughter charge for shaking to death his seven-month old son to stop him from crying. He plead guilty in 2003 and received a four-month suspended sentence. The case ignited a debate in Switzerland over shaking babies.
